«Let me get this straight», one student said. «You’re telling me that if I say something out loud, it’s me saying it, but if I write the exact same thing on paper, it’s somebody else, right?»
«Yes», I said. «And we’re calling it fiction.»
The student pulled out his notebook, wrote something down, and handed me a sheet of paper that read, «That’s the stupidest fucking thing I ever heard in my life.»
They were a smart group.

«A ver si lo entiendo», dijo un estudiante. «Me estás diciendo que si digo algo en voz alta, soy yo diciéndolo, pero que si escribo la misma cosa en papel, es otra persona quien lo dice, no?»

«Sí», dije, «Y lo llamamos ficción.»

El estudiante sacó su cuaderno, escribió algo y me mostró una hoja en la que había escrito, «Esa es la cosa más estúpida que he oído en mi puta vida».

Eran un grupo muy espabilado.
